TikTok Disabled Conversion Events

One or more of your TikTok conversion events (CompletePayment, PlaceAnOrder, CompleteRegistration, Subscribe, AddToCart, InitiateCheckout) is sitting in Events Manager with a Disabled status. Disabled events do not feed bidding, do not build audiences, and do not show in conversion reports.

Why It Matters

Events get disabled for two reasons that look identical in the export. Someone paused the event deliberately (a seasonal campaign ended, the conversion was retired, the team migrated to Events API). Or someone disabled it by accident in a Campaign Manager cleanup sweep and never re-enabled it. Both cases land in the same place: the event still exists, the pixel call may still fire, but TikTok will not score it. The risk is not theoretical. If a CompletePayment event is disabled and the team launches a purchase-optimization campaign anyway, TikTok will accept the campaign and optimize toward the next-best signal it can find, often a broad ViewContent pool. Spend goes out, attributed conversions stay at zero in the disabled column, and the dashboard tells a story that does not match revenue. Disabled events also tangle audit trails. A reviewer who pulls Events Manager and sees CompletePayment listed assumes the account tracks purchases. The Disabled status is easy to miss in a quick scan. The fix is to either re-enable or formally retire each disabled conversion so the export reflects what the account actually measures.

How To Fix It

  1. Open TikTok Events Manager and filter events by status. Pull every event tagged Disabled.
  2. For each disabled conversion, decide its fate. If it should be live, re-enable it and verify with a test fire in TikTok Test Events. If it is genuinely retired, delete it or rename it so audit exports do not show a misleading active-conversion list.
  3. Confirm no active campaign is configured to optimize toward a disabled conversion. Campaign Manager will let you save that configuration silently, so check the campaign-level optimization goal explicitly.
  4. If the event was disabled as part of a migration to Events API, confirm the server-side path is reporting volume before retiring the client-side counterpart.
  5. Document why each disabled event was disabled so the next reviewer does not have to reconstruct the history.
