LinkedIn Insight Tag
LinkedIn Insight Tag audit
Ten checks for LinkedIn Insight Tag and conversion-tracking event exports.
LinkedIn measurement is the hardest of the major platforms to get right because the conversion windows skew long (B2B sales cycles), the conversion categories matter more than usual (Google Ads gives Smart Bidding the categories; LinkedIn ties them to specific bidding optimisations), and the Insight Tag's default behaviour is more permissive than the others.
AdLint audits LinkedIn conversion-tracking event exports for: no active conversions, missing key conversions (Lead, Purchase, Sign-Up), duplicate conversion definitions, similar-name drift, zero-volume conversions, overuse of the "Other" category, Purchase actions missing value, conversion windows too short for the sales cycle, conversions defined but unattached to any campaign, and disabled key conversions.
The sales-cycle audit context lets the windows checks calibrate per-account.
critical (3)
LinkedIn Missing Key Conversions
criticalYour LinkedIn account has active conversion actions, but none of them represent a real business outcome. There is no Lead, no Sign-Up, no Purchase, and no Download in the active set. The Insight Tag is working. It is just measuring page views and side events instead of the things campaigns should optimize for.
LinkedIn No Active Conversions
criticalYour LinkedIn account has no active conversion action recording any volume. Either the Insight Tag is not installed, the conversion actions are configured but their triggers do not match the live site, or every active action is genuinely receiving zero traffic. In all three cases, campaigns cannot optimize and reporting cannot describe outcomes.
LinkedIn Purchase Missing Value
criticalYour LinkedIn Purchase conversion actions are firing without value or currency attached. The conversion records, the count goes up, the dashboard shows orders. The revenue column is empty. LinkedIn can't tell whether a campaign drove a $50 trial signup or a $50,000 annual contract, and any ROAS figure derived from this account is fiction.
warning (6)
LinkedIn Conversion Window Too Short
warningYour LinkedIn account has conversion actions running on Click conversion windows shorter than 7 days. On LinkedIn, where most traffic is B2B or considered-purchase, that window cuts off legitimate conversions before they happen. The Insight Tag still fires correctly. Campaign reporting just undercounts the click that started the deal.
LinkedIn Disabled Key Conversions
warningYour account has Lead, Sign-Up, or Purchase conversion actions sitting in a disabled state. Those three categories are the exact outcomes most LinkedIn campaigns are built to optimize for. When they are turned off, the campaigns either default to weaker proxy events or run blind, and nobody on the team can tell from a glance whether the disablement was deliberate or forgotten.
LinkedIn Duplicate Conversion Names
warningYour account has two or more conversion actions with the same name. The Insight Tag fires correctly. The reporting export does not. When two actions both labeled "Demo Request" appear in a campaign report, no reader can tell which one represents the real funnel and which one is the duplicate, and the campaign-level totals split between them in ways that are hard to reconcile.
LinkedIn Other Category Overuse
warningYour LinkedIn account has a stack of conversion actions sitting under the Other category. Other is a valid choice, but when it becomes the default bucket it stops carrying information. A reviewer reading the export cannot tell which actions are leads, which are signups, and which are page views worth optimizing for.
LinkedIn Unattached Conversions
warningYour account has active LinkedIn conversion actions that no campaign is using. The Insight Tag fires, the action records, the export looks healthy. But because the conversion is not attached at the campaign level, none of your campaigns can report on it or optimize toward it. The data lands in the account and stops there.
LinkedIn Zero Volume Conversions
warningYour account has active conversion actions that have recorded zero conversions over the reporting window. The actions are switched on. The Insight Tag is installed. Something between the trigger configuration and the live site is not connecting, or the campaign attached to the action is not driving the audience that would convert on it.
